Waiting for the Warm Weather!

I'm ready for summer to get here. Heck, I'd be happy if we had a day where it didn't get below freezing! But it's not too bad, I'm actually getting used to it. I know!! I never thought I'd say those words! We are keeping ourselves busy in spite of the frigid temperatures. Here's a little break down of what we've been up to the past couple of weeks.

We've been watching lots of football! It's going to be boring after the Super Bowl. There won't be anything on TV to watch on the weekends once it's over.

Here's my friend from work, Jenn. After we finished watching the Vikings whoop up on the Cowboys we decided to scrapbook a little while the guys played video games.

Brian and I went fishing last weekend. We tried a couple of lakes, but guess what....they were frozen solid!!! So we headed to the river. We didn't stay very long because it was pretty cold and there wasn't a fish in sight!

I've been baking a lot as well. I love trying out new recipes, and that's what I've been doing. In the past week or so I've made 7 new things. They include: homemade cinnamon rolls, monkey bread, pound cake, baked mac & cheese, chicken pot pie, roadside diner quiche and minestrone soup. Brian even got in the cooking mood so he tried a new recipe for chili con carne. They were all keepers. Here's a picture of the monkey bread and pound cake.

More scrapbooking!

Spending time with our pets! I know, you get to see a lot of pictures of them. But they do keep us entertained and busy.

Brian and I have also kept ourselves busy with one of spare bedrooms in the basement. We finally got all of the drywall up and it has been taped and mudded. We still need to do a couple more applications of mud. But it's getting there!

When I first started this post I didn't think I'd have much to show you guys, but I guess we have been pretty busy these past few weeks. Nothing too exciting, but we like to be at home together. We hope everyone is doing well where ever you may be reading this. Know that we are thinking about each and everyone of you!

Personal Update

Well I know that I'm excited for this new year, especially because it means I made it through half of the school year and I'm finally on the down hill slide. I made a countdown calendar and there are 84 more SCHOOL days! 84 seems like a pretty big number but if I can make it to spring break there will only be 46 days left. I'm learning how to deal with/handle the kids at school and I can honestly say that I don't "hate" going to work every day. I'm even having some pretty good days. But I still don't see myself teaching there next year.

By now I'm guessing most of you know that Brian and I have been trying to increase the size of our family. Not with any more pets, but with the human variety! We've actually been trying for over a year and a half and we've been unsuccessful. So I finally made an appointment with a specialist last Thursday. She thought I had endometriosis and she wanted to do a laparoscopic surgery to confirm. So the following day (yep the very next day) I went in to have the procedure. It's nice seeing a civilian doctor, I didn't have to wait a month to try to make an appointment. The doctor could not see any signs of endometriosis or any other condition that may be causing us issues. At first I was a little disappointed because I really wanted answers, but it is Good News that I don't have endometriosis!!!

That's the update on my end. Brian is still doing very well. It's actually his birthday today!! Yay!! He's actually out in this freezing weather doing a 9 mile ruck march. He's training to do the Bataan Death March in New Mexico. Crazy guy!! For those of you who do not know what this is, it's a full marathon (26.2 miles) but you are wearing your army uniform including the boots and a 35 pound ruck sack. Did I mention it's in the sands and hills of New Mexico? Like I said, he's crazy!!!

Brian is also making quite the impression on everyone around him. He has actually been offered a company command position for the hospital. He hasn't decided if he's going to accept the offer. Right now he's leaning towards not going for it because he wants to put in for the opening with the 10th Special Forces Group in Fort Carson, CO. That is his ultimate dream job! I'll keep you posted as we find out more!
